Burton Bradstock is a village in south west Dorset, England. The village has a population of 979 (2001).
The village is situated on Chesil Beach, 5 miles east of Bridport
, it is a beautiful village and well worth a visit if you are in the area.
The singer Billy Bragg lives in the village hight street a few miles to the east of Bridport lies the pretty village of Burton Bradstock.
Once a tightly knit community of farmers, fishermen, net makers and flax spinners the village has retained much of its character and offers a glimpse into a by gone age.
In the late 1880s a local businessman, Richard Roberts, built up a worldwide Trade in flax and hemp-based products, a leaflet entitled The Roberts Trail is available from the village Post Office and shows sites of interest around the village.
Burton Bradstock beach is a shelving shingle beach close to the village. On a clear day it offers stunning views to Portland and round to the East Devon coast. Bathers need to excercise caution as the beach shelves steeply and there is a strong undertow.
